Auckland airport- World’s Largest Airport

Auckland international airport is located in New Zealand and it is considered as the world’s largest airport as it has a handling capacity of approximately 13 million passengers, per annum. It is primary hub for air New Zealand and secondary hub for Pacific Blue. It is expected that in coming years the handling capacity of passengers will be doubled. It allows over four million travelers ever year and contributes about $14 billion to the economy. After Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, it is the fourth busiest airport in Australasia.

By using a single runway, the airport has the capacity to handle 45 flights per hour. Work on new northern runways was started in November, 2007. In 1965, the first flight took off for Sydney.
